Role Overview
Odin AI is looking for a Senior EM / Director to lead our high-performance engineering team responsible for building and scaling our core AI-driven products and client delivery solutions.
This role blends technical leadership, people management, delivery ownership, and cross-functional execution. You will manage distributed engineering teams, drive execution across multiple parallel workstreams, and ensure that product and client commitments are met with quality, speed, and predictability.
You will work closely with Product, Architecture, and Customer Engineering teams to translate business and client needs into robust, scalable engineering outcomes.
What You’ll Do
Team Leadership & People Management
Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of Full Stack, AI/ML, and Cloud engineers.
Build a strong engineering culture grounded in ownership, accountability, code quality, and continuous learning.
Conduct performance evaluations, skill development plans, and succession planning for engineering talent.
Drive hiring, onboarding, and capability-building for new engineers.
Engineering Delivery & Execution
Own end-to-end delivery for engineering projects, ensuring timelines, scope, and quality meet expectations.
Manage sprint planning, execution workflows, and cross-team coordination for multiple parallel project tracks.
Ensure high engineering velocity while maintaining reliability, security, and performance standards.
Establish measurable KPIs for engineering delivery, quality, and productivity.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Work closely with client-facing teams to understand customer needs, delivery timelines, and architectural constraints.
Oversee client deliverables, ensuring engineering output meets expectations for quality, functionality, and timelines.
Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to internal and external stakeholders with transparency.
Ensure engineering teams are prepared for demos, solution walk-throughs, and client reviews.
Technical Leadership
Partner with Principal Architect and Tech Leads to translate architectural direction into executable engineering plans.
Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and solutioning for complex engineering problems.
Contribute hands-on when needed (Python/JavaScript/TypeScript preferred), setting engineering standards for the team.
Ensure best practices in CI/CD, testing, operational excellence, and engineering automation.
Systems & Product Thinking
Work with product teams to define scope, priorities, and feature breakdown for scalable delivery.
Drive continuous improvements in engineering workflows, tech stack, and operational processes.
Ensure systems built are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with business and client requirements.
Proactively identify platform risks (performance, stability, scalability, dependencies) and mitigate them early.
Remote-First Leadership
Manage distributed teams across time zones with clear communication and structured workflows.
Create strong remote rituals: standups, reviews, retrospectives, engineering forums.
Ensure clarity, documentation, and communication excellence in a fully remote environment.
Who You Are
12 –15+ years of strong software engineering experience, with at least 5 – 6 years in engineering leadership or team management.
Experience working in AI-first, product-led, or high-growth remote startups.
Proven experience leading engineering teams delivering complex, distributed, cloud-native systems.
Deep understanding of system design, microservices, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and modern architecture principles.
Hands-on experience in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript; ability to dive deep when needed.
Strong delivery mindset — you’ve led multiple teams through fast-paced releases and client-facing commitments.
Experience managing engineering KPIs, sprint velocity, quality metrics, and performance indicators.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills — balancing engineering feasibility with business and client priorities.
Experience handling ambiguity, context-switching, and parallel workstreams in startup environments.
You thrive in remote-first teams, excel at communication, and know how to create alignment across distributed groups.
